4th August 2014
Taking place 100 years to the day after Britain entered the First World War, we will again follow the route taken by so many men and women on their way to the Western Front.
Joined this year by a large Army contingent, bands, veterans and special guests, we will pause at the new Memorial Arch before setting off down the Road of Remembrance to Folkestone Harbour, where the troop ships waited.
This year there will also be a candlelit procession in the evening, the climax will be at 11pm, the precise time that war was declared.
These processions will mark the beginning of the national centenary tributes to the sacrifices made by our WW1 ancestors, and will be a unique occasion for us to remember and honour them.
